The board presented it's plans for the club during the Annual Members Meeting 2021 (AMM) (June 2nd). This special AMM edition didn't just focus on the upcoming season, but the future of the club as a whole. With a rigorus change of the class and training structure the Amsterdam Skating Academy & Derby Club enters a new era. |
The president of the Amsterdam Skating Academy & Derby Club, Tyler ter Meulen, opened the AMM, and started with the club culture. A combination of values, heritage, and vision, the culture of the club is characterized in the way we all behave towards other club members, other organizations, and skaters. During this special AMM edition, the board introduced the "5 keys" which characterize the essentials of our club culture, the values we hold high and live by. |
The 5 keys, as shown on the left, are:

After the introduction of the 5 keys, the Marketing Officer (Dewi Denise ter Meulen) and Membership officer (Sanne van Nugteren) took the floor to introduce our brand new team outfits. Teaming up with Van Dijk Teamwear, we offer a wide range of ASA apparel to our club members. Beside the official team tracksuit (pictured here) a range of other apparel items (zip-tops, tights) are introduced, as well as bags. Together with Van Dijk, we launched a special webshop to buy your apparel online: https://www.jakosport.nl/nl/team/asa/ |
The new structure of the classes and training schedule is based on model used by figure skating schools in Canada as well as rollerskating schools in Italy. Both the best of the world in their respective disciplines.
Specialized technical classes which focus directly on the biomechanics of elements are introduced, as well as patches where skaters work independently on the knowledge they obtain during these technical classes. Group classes for the beginners and Teens & Adults segments focus on all aspects (training and teaching of elements) in a group environment.
The new structure and the practical implementation is described in the "How To" brochure.

With the implementation of the new training system, the emphasis on club culture (using the 5 keys) and the new branding, the organization continues towards reaching it's club goal: “To be a home for each and everyone who loves skating sports, to become the premier training location for skating sports in Northern Europe, and to have a large community of recreational skaters”
